'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bournemouth Looking at Iriekpen

Bournemouth are interested in signing Izzy Iriekpen following the player's request for a transfer.

The centre back handed in his transfer request because he needed to be playing first team football.

Jackett had only dropped the former West Ham player since his incident outside a nightclub back in November. Despite his off-the-field troubles, Iriekpen insisted it was simply a footballing decision.

Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond said: 'I've seen Izzy play a number of times.

'He's strong, aggressive and pacey. He knows this division inside-out so someone like him would definitely strengthen our squad.

'But he's one of a number of names I'm exploring because a million things could scupper it. It's down to whether they would come, whether they would fit in and whether we could afford them.'

It would be a shame to see Izzy go as he is the only centre back we have with real pace.

He certainly has the potential to play at a higher level and no disrespect to Bournemouth, but I think their chances of signing Izzy are slim.

His contract expires in the Summer so the Swans could risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

Jackett also commented and said: : ''It doesn't bother me in terms of selection.

''If he trains well, does the right things and a chance comes, I will put him in.

''He played at Ipswich and he did well. He hasn't wobbled, he's shown a decent attitude and I have no grudge against him.''

I think I agree. As a Bournemouth fan I'd be surprised if he wants to come to us. Expecially with all the changes taking place at the club.
