Safety Confirmed But £Millions Still To Play For vs WB

Safety Confirmed But £Millions Still To Play For vs WB

Safety may have been confirmed with a win at Sunderland last weekend, but there's still a few £million to play for in the final game of the season.

It's incredible that we're safe with a game to spare, I'm sure most of us were expecting a nerve-wracking final home game against West Brom on Sunday to decide our fate either way, but Hull faltered at the end, losing their 2-point lead over us with recent defeats against Sunderland and Crystal Palace.

We've witnessed final games in the past where they've been drab 0-0 draws as both us and the opposition have had nothing to play for, and while some teams tend to give opportunities to younger players and rest key players, I'm not sure Huw Jenkins and the American owners will be too keen on that idea, given the extra few million quid we could earn thanks to a higher placed finish.

As it stands, we're set to earn £7.6m if we finish in our current position - 17th, but if we win, we could posibly finish as high as 15th, which pays out £11.4m, an extra £3.8m in the bank.

To finish 15th, we would need both Burnley and Watford to lose, and us of course to beat West Brom. Tony Pulis' side could finish as high as 7th, and as low as 11th.

Burnley host West Ham at home on the final day, while Watford are also at home, against Manchester City - a side aiming to consolodate and absolutely guarantee a top 4 spot.

Should Paul Clement make some team changes for Sunday's game and give some of the youngsters an opportunity? Or should we stick with his strongest side? Let us know in the comments below...
