Abbott Completes 150,000 Move

As revealed on the forum last night, Swansea City have completed the 150,00 signing of Huddersfield Town striker Pawel Abbott.

With Rory Fallon joining Plymouth last week, Jackett has moved quickly to replace him and Abbott should certainly fit the bill.

Swansea are also strongly rumoured to be in talks with Millwall about signing Darren Byfield.

After scoring two goals to help the Terriers to come from behind to beat us 3-2 a few weeks ago, Abbott now says: "I'll repay Swansea with plenty of goals to cancel those two out,''

"I'm really looking forward to pulling on a Swansea shirt. It's a fantastic stadium and a really big club - a club I really want to play for.

"It all happened so quickly. Kenny Jackett rang me on Friday night and I came down on Sunday for a look around.

"I met the manager and the chairman and liked what they were saying and where the club was going. Hopefully I can help the club get where they want to be - the Championship.''

"I enjoyed my time at Huddersfield, but the time was right to make a move for the betterment of my career,''

"I'm looking forward to playing with Lee Trundle or Adebayo Akinfenwa. They are two very different strikers, but both very good players.

"There's going to be competition for places up front, but that's what keeps everyone on their toes and makes everyone work harder.''

The Swans are now awaiting for Football League clearance so he is able to play in tomorrow night's match at home to Gillingham.

Terriers boss Peter Jackson commented on the transfer and said: "Swansea made the enquiry on Friday and I gave them permission to speak to Pav on Friday night. As a result, Pav went down on Sunday for talks and it all went through.

"The key thing for us is that he could have walked out for free in the summer but we feel we have got a decent price for him. He's done well since joining us but I couldn't guarantee him a first-team place and in the end the money was too good to turn down."
