Ayew: 'I Have a Lot To Prove In The Premier League'

New Swansea City signing Jordan Ayew says he has 'a lot to prove in the Premier League' as he looks forward to his new challenge with the Swans.

In his first interview since signing from Aston Villa last month and coming back from the African Cup of Nations, the 25 year-old says he's 'one of the happiest people in the world' to be given another opportunity to prove himself at Premier League level.

He also revealed that there were opportunities to return to France, but told of his desire to play in the Premier League again.

Ayew was one of Villa's better performers during their forgetful relegation campaign last season in the top flight, as the winger/striker netted 7 goals in 30 League appearances. But he has struggled to continue that form in the Championship this year, with many Villa supporters questioning his attitude and commitment.

But Ayew now says he's happy that he look to settle at a club, having been 'all over the place' in the last few years, and that he now needs 'stability'.

"For the past three or four years I have been all over the place,"

"I need stability and I think this is the perfect place for me to grow and improve in a lot of aspects. I think I made a wonderful choice.

"I am so grateful to be here. It`s the next step in my career.

"I have been here several times in the past with my brother and I saw a lot of positive things.

"He spoke to me about the club and he said only good things. It didn`t take too long for me to make a decision.'

Ayew also admitted that it was 'difficult' at Aston Villa, but wants to prove himself again in the Premier League:

'I am so grateful for this chance, I am one of the happiest people in the world,'

'I heard about the move maybe around two weeks before the end of the transfer window and when I heard about it I was pleased.

'I knew a lot about the club from my brother and felt it was better than going back to France or another country.

'There were opportunities to go to France or elsewhere but I wanted to be in the Premier League at a club that is growing in confidence and plays good football.

'It was difficult with Aston Villa and I feel like I have a lot I want to prove in the Premier League.'
