Swansea Looking To Loan Duffy

Swansea City could be set to sign Portsmouth right back Richard Duffy on a season-long loan.

The 11-cap Welsh international left the Vetch for £150,000 in 2003 but he looks set for a temporary move back to his former club.

The 21 year-old has only made 2 appearances for the Premiership club and has also had loan spells with Championship sides Burney and Coventry.

Kenny Jackett: 'Harry Redknapp has told Richard he can go out on loan and we're hopeful that we can tie something up today,'

'He has a slight groin injury, but I think that will be sorted out today so he can come down to us.

'Richard's a versatile player who can operate anywhere across the back-four. He's an out-and-out defender who is very competitive.'

With Amankwaah out with an ankle injury, it'll be good to see Duffy make a return as Tate can easily move to the centre of defence or into midfield.

A defender is certainly what we need though as Iriekpen is rumoured to be going and Watt seems to be out of favour.

In our recent poll, the majority of our readers believe we need to sign at least 3 new players in this month's transfer window.

I also think we may need to bring in a new midfielder with the likes of Tudur-Jones, Way, Pratley and MacDonald out injured but Tate could be moved up to that position if Duffy does join us.

With Knight's future also up at the club, a new striker is also required as we'll need another out and out goalscorer if Trundle suffers an injury between now and May.

its a done deal now. can hold his own at this level so a loan is probably the best option for us.

hes be a great addition to our squad

yeah he can play all along the back four. I don't think Tate's a good option at CB, he plays far better on the right. He's also too defensive to play in midfield as well.
