Jackett: 'We Need More Pace'

Swansea City manager Kenny Jackett says that one area of the squad that he needs to address is the pace of his 'frontline'.

With the transfer window just a couple of weeks away, Jackett says he is hoping to add pace to his frontline in January.

In a recent site poll, a large majority voted that we needed a new striker to replace Leon Knight, who is currently on loan at Barnsley.

Jackett said: ''One thing I think I might have missed as a manager and that I need to address is pace in our frontline,''

''I couldn't specify one player or one particular position - it could be anywhere in our front six.

''It could be a striker, a wide player or a central midfielder who can run on and get beyond the front two.

''But if you're asking me what I might do in January, I'd say pace going forward is an area where we can improve. It's something I might have missed when I've brought players in.''

He also commented on Leon Knight, who was transfer-listed a few months ago and said that he had pace but used it on a ''one-off basis.'' He added: ''Knight had sharpness and some pace over the top, but I think we need someone with repeat pace.

''We need people who are going to run in there again and again and again, not once a game.

''Knight had pace on a one-off basis, but he played too many games where he wasn't getting in behind repeatedly.

''Of our front six, we need one or two players who can get the other side on a regular basis.''

Chairman Huw Jenkins says that funds should be available in the January transfer-window but spending will be limited after £1million was spent on players this year.

Good God man. It took you a year to work that out? Youve been told this by every supporter and his dog. How long before you realise our defence is crap as well? Another year ffs??
