Williams Returns To Squad

Left-back Tommy Williams has returned to full training with the squad after undergoing hernia surgery, and could make it to the bench for Saturday's game against Carlisle.

His involvement could depend on the status of on-loan left back Marcos Painter, whose spent the last few weeks at his club Birmingham City to have treatment on his ankle injury.

Physio Richard Evans said: 'He's had an injection and we're waiting to find out what Marcos's situation is now,'

'But Tommy's back with the squad and he could come into the 16 this weekend.'

After a poor start to the season for Williams where he received plenty of criticism, he is now finally showing what he is capable and made some good performances not long before going under the knife.

With Painter's loan spell up after the Carlisle game, Williams' return can't come soon enough really. Austin lacks pace to play out wide and Jackett doesn't seem overly keen on Sylvain Meslian, who played just 36 minutes on his debut and was then dropped to the bench in the next game.

Seems he was just getting into some good form before he was out injured, our defence looked a shambles at blackpool, dodgy offsides, we tried the offside trap for a third time in the game and they scored. Amankwaah and Lawrence especially have been poor lately.

Look forward to Williams back in the team - his centres have been missed.
