'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Forbes Thanks Fans For Support

Adrian Forbes thanked Swansea fans after the reception he got from them during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Blackpool.

The winger joined the Seasiders in the Summer after he was released by the Swans at the end of last season.

He declined to celebrate their late equaliser and said: ''I thought about it, but the Swansea fans were just behind me,''

''They were great to me and they were loyal for two years when I was at the club, so it wouldn't have been right for me to celebrate in front of them.

''I was wondering before the game whether I would get cheered or booed but they sang my name almost throughout.

''I was very pleased to get that sort of reception and it was nice to say a proper goodbye to them because I never got the chance at the end of last season.''

You were always guaranteed 100% effort and commitment from 'Forbesy' but he was criticised for his lack of any end product.

His performance on Saturday was good enough though to be awarded the official man of the match.

The 27 year-old says he thinks his new club can reach the heights that his former club did last season, he added: ''It was a good game where both sides played well but we're pleased because we matched one of the best sides in the division,''

''I'm confident Blackpool can go just as far as Swansea did last season.''

''We had two goals disallowed and we hit the bar, so if things had been a little different we could have had a great win.''

''It was very satisfying to get man of the match against my old employers. I wanted to show my old manager that maybe he shouldn't have let me go.''
