Jackett Gives Bayo Goal Challenge

Kenny Jackett has challenged Adebayo Akinfenwa to score a flurry of goals after getting his first of the season last Saturday against Darlington in the FA Cup.

After challenging Britton to become the best player at the club, the Swans' boss is now hoping that Akinfenwa's season can get going, he said: 'We hope Bayo's season will really get going now,'

'His problem has been that he hasn't been 100 per cent fit because of the problems with his shins.

'His injuries have not allowed him to push for a regular starting place because he has only started training on Thursday most weeks. That only allows him really to be sub.

'With Leon Knight going, I've actually been pretty thin up front. I've been fortunate that Rory and Lee (Trundle) have stayed fit and that we've been winning games.

'But I hope Bayo can get fully fit and start competing for a regular starting berth now.

Jackett also dismissed the fact that Fallon is ahead of Akinfenwa in the pecking order because of his £300,000 price tag, he added: 'Rory's price-tag means nothing to me. It does hurt you if you sign a player and then don't play him, there's no doubt about that.

'But if I have to do that I will. I've done it with Leon Knight. In the end once you've thought about things, it comes down to what I think is best for the club. If that means leaving out someone I've signed, so be it.'

With Trundle picking up an injury at Darlington last Saturday, Jackett has opted to go with Craney up front along with Akinfenwa in tonight's match at Darlington, leaving Fallon on the bench.
