Guttridge Turns Down Swansea Move

Southend United midfielder Luke Guttridge has turned down the chance to join Swansea City.

Kenny Jackett made enquiries a couple of days ago about bringing the 24 year-old to the Liberty Stadium with the injuries to Pratley, Way and Tudur-Jones.

The Championship club allowed us to speak to the player but he opted to stay with the Shrimpers.

There may be no new faces before Thursday's loan deadline as Jackett seems pleased with using Tate in midfield.

The Swans boss said: ''We did make an enquiry a couple of weeks ago and the club were quite happy for him to come,''

''But the player didn't want to come to Swansea so that one's dead now. Will we keep looking? Well Darren Pratley may be back for Bristol City and Kris O'Leary should be okay despite getting another dead leg on Saturday.

''I thought Alan Tate did very well in central midfield at Port Vale, so it could be that we're overcoming that particular problem.''
