Fantastic Support Shown For Ferrie Bodde

Fantastic Support Shown For Ferrie Bodde

We were saddened to hear the news this week that former Swansea City midfielder Ferrie Bodde was put into an induced coma and was diagnosed with pneumonia.

The news came out on Tuesday, and Swansea City fans acted quickly to show their support for him during the sixth minute of Saturday's 4-1 home win against Aston Villa.

The advertising boards showed a message that read 'Only One Ferrie Bodde', and a special mention also has to go out to the Aston Villa fans, who also respectfully joined in the minute's applause for the former Swansea City midfielder.

The Swans won 4-1 and while Jonjo Shelvey scored a stunning 47-yard goal that could be compared to Bodde's very own effort at Preston North End - that you can watch below, the best news of the day was to hear that Bodde awoke from his coma, and it was confirmed that he is expected to make a full recovery.

The retired player's spokesman confirmed:

'He is doing very well and we expect him to make a full recovery.

'Ferrie has heard about the support he has been getting from the Swansea fans. He wants them to know that he appreciates it very much. He has a long way to go yet, but he is doing well.'

And Shelvey's strike against Aston Villa:

Our thoughts and best wishes also go out to former Swansea City player Leighton James who also suffered a stroke recently. We also hope to hear good news on that front soon.
