Will Swansea City Take Risk And Appoint Monk?

Will the Swansea City board take the risk and appoint Garry Monk permanently as manager for next season? Should they?

For the past few weeks, if not more, the main question being asked by all Swansea City fans is whether or not the club should or will keep Monk on as manager.

It appears that the vast majority of us are not in favour of Monk staying on as manager, and you can't blame us, particularly with the added off the field problems together with our struggles near the foot of the Premier League table - not to mention his total lack of managerial experience.

Has Monk got what it takes to turn things around in 2014/15 and get us back to mid-table - where we've finished in our previous 3 top flight seasons?

In our current site poll, more than 60% don't want Monk as manager, and that's nothing against the defender, he's been a fantastic servant to the club, but he has no experience whatsoever, and the club threw him in the deep end following the sacking of Michael Laudrup two months ago.

Whilst one of the big debates is whether or not the club SHOULD keep Monk on, another big question is, WILL the club stick with Monk.

Huw Jenkins and the rest of the board have an impeccable record of appointing successful managers, so we have to trust them in getting it right once again.

Will they show loyalty towards Monk and put their trust in the current head coach, or will they conclude that an experienced manager is required after results showed no improved following the departure of Michael Laudrup.

While Monk will probably keep us in the division this season, I'm not sure he has the connections or the aura to attract decent players to the club. I feel we need an older and more experienced manager to control the club. Although I do think that Gary Monk will succeed as a manager, I'm not too keen that he should learn his trade here. The Premier League is probably a step too far for Monk at the moment and the lower leagues are where he should get experience of managing. Let's get some more points from our remaining games first before we discuss the manager's job.

I'd much rather us get in a proven manager with experience, but I'm preparing for Monk to be named our manager and we need to back him all the day if he does get the job. I don't have doubts that he'll bring the squad together once he gets rid of the mess left behind by Laudrup and certain "characters" are shown the door, but as you say there are concerns as to whether he can attract the sort of players that we need and the sort we've brought in over the last few years. I just hope we don't target lower League players
