Swans linked with Stevenage's Boyd
According to today's News of the World, Swansea City are lining up a bid for Stevenage's highly-rated midfielder, George Boyd.
Swansea have been scouting the 20 year old £200,000-rated midfielder as Jackett's assistant, Kevin Nugent watched the youngster score a last minute winner against Dagenham & Redbridge.
Boyd has also attracted interest from Championship sides, QPR and Crystal Palace and an insider said: ''The Swans have already started the ball rolling. Jackett is hell-bent on landing him - despite stiff competition.''
''I think Kenny sees the lad as a Premiership star in the making.''
We are talking about a kid who could easily be worth £2million within the next few years. Expect to see something happen on this within the next week.''
The Stevenage boss, Graham Westley believes Boyd will be good enough to play for England one day. He said: ''Why not? If he keeps listening and learning there is always a possibility it could happen.''
''He has tons to learn and he needs to have the desire to go and reach that level.''
''But there are not a lot of left-sided players in this country to choose from and George can do incredible things.''
He has scored 5 goals in 13 games in the Conference this season. A number of scouts were at at Dagenham & Redbridge game but the club insist they will reject any bids they recieve when the transfer window opens again in January.
National papers such as the News of the World have rarely reported the truth in matters like this and until we hear something official or from the local press, we cn really ignore this for now.
