Jackett Criticises Woeful Defending

Kenny Jackett criticised his defence after they gifted Nottingham Forest two goals on Saturday as the league leaders romped to a 3-1 victory.

Rory Fallon scored his second goal in as many games after heading home Robinson's cross, but in a 13 minute spell early in the second half, Forest scored 3 goals to take home all 3 points.

The Swans are now 8 points off top spot and our terrible lack of consisntency this season is costing us dear.

Kenny Jackett said: 'We can't give goals away like we did,'

'The first and the third goals were gifts, which we don't ever get.

'The goals put Forest in a commanding position when we had as much possession and were in a strong position.

'We've conceded three goals in each of our last two away games. If you do that you can't expect to get any points.'

'We're halfway down the league and we need to be challenging at the top,'

'Since I've been at Swansea we've needed to be near the top of the league and it's no different now.

'The pressure is always on weather you want to go further ahead or claw something back. So I'm not feeling any different.

'Football is a simple game and you need to get your basics right and that's the reason we lost to Forest.'

Things need to be put right as our defence are continually giving away sloppy goals.

A few weeks ago it was set pieces we couldn't defend against, now it seems to be defending balls along the floor that we can't seem to deal with.

Tranmere visit the Liberty Stadium Friday night, who currently sit in 5th place as they try to compete for a place in the top 2.

Most defences would've been had by the throughball Commons put through - although it does beg the question how the lad playing at left back seemed to be on the end of it, probably explains why nobody was marking him! Forest easily deserved to win on their performance in the last 35 minutes - we were awful in the first half, and Swansea only edged that, once we started playing there was only going to be one winner. Heartening for us, because it's the first time I've seen us actually look convincing this season. I would wish the Swans luck over the season, but I wouldn't mean it ;)

It would be less sporting to come out with false platitudes... I freely admit we were poor in the first half, but why should we deny when we play well in the second? Oh, and it's Nottingham Forest.

Jackett obviously is not coaching the defence too well, if we dont let him go why dont we just get a defence coach in?

Have seen the goals on TV - Tate caught out of position by miles for the first goal and a little closer for the second. Lawrence not quick enough to react to the third and gave up. The friday night write-up on the site stated that Kris Commons was their danger man. He made the first and scored their second. We took the warning lightly.
