Second Real Betis Player To Sign For Swansea City?

Swansea City could complete the signing of another out-of-contract Real Betis player soon with the news that Alejandro Pozuelo is expected to sign a 3-year contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The La Liga club have confirmed that the 21 year-old will leave following an-going row over his contract. Betis claimed that he had triggered an automatic extension but it looks like he will join former Betis team-mate Jose Canas in South Wales having been told that he could leave if his new club pay a compensation fee - which could be around £425,000.

Pozuelo made a name for himself for the Betis B side between 2010 and 2012, scoring 16 goals in 42 appearances, and his form earned him a place in the senior side from 2011. He was also linked with big moves to Barcelona and Manchester United, but a row over his contract saw him play less games last season and interest in him has dropped somewhat.

He's an attacking midfielder and could add a much needed source of goals to the midfield - particularly if Swansea City are unable to sign loanee Jonathan de Guzman permanently.

There finally looks to be some good news for Swansea fans regarding new signings following a period of uncertainty over Laudrup's future at the club.

Chairman Huw Jenkins has looked to reassure the supporters that they are hard at work to strengthen the squad for the new season, and Pozuelo's arrival would go a long way to confirm their intentions this Summer.

It's very likely that Laudrup is looking to make at least 1 signing in each outfield position. The midfield could be covered with the Real Betis duo. Espanyol defender Jordi Amat has been linked while Lyon striker Gomis could smash the current transfer record with a fee of at least £8m needed to buy him, but Monaco provide the Swans with stiff competition for his services.

Hardly dead wood I think, he didn't play apparently because of his on-going contract dispute.
