2.5m Bid Rejected For Striker Batshuayi?

Reports in Belgium say that Swansea City have had a 3million euros (2.57m) bid rejected for Standard Liege striker Michy Batshuayi.

It was reported last year that both Chelsea and Barcelona were tracking his progress as he was scoring impressively for Liege last year aged 18. More recently, Belgian champions Anderlecht have also been thought to be considering a move for the bright, young prospect.

Now aged 19, the teenager hasn't lost his goalscoring consistency after netting 12 goals in the Belgium's top League as Liege finished fourth and qualified for Europe.

While a 2.5m bid has apparently been rejected, it's thought that the Swans won't have to offer much more to land the youngster.

In other transfer news, Lyon frontman Bafetimbi Gomis is still a strongly linked target, but for a much higher fee of around 8m. His wage demands could be as much as 3m a year, or around 50,000 a week, but other sources say these demands aren't a problem.

Birmingham City winger Nathan Redmond, Espanyol defender Jordi Amat and Real Betis midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo are just some of the other names being linked with a move to the Liberty Stadium.

Despite arch rivals Cardiff City also reportedly interested in Gomis, the Swans appear to be front-runners to land the Frenchman, with European football and working with Michael Laudrup as being the two big attractions to Swansea City.

While Batshuayi could be a big coup for the Swans, Gomis is a far more established and experienced striker that would certainly help them during their Europa League campaign next season. The 27 year-old, who has been compared to Didier Drogba, scored 20 goals in 40 games in France's top tier, helping Lyon finish 3rd in the table behind Paris St Germain and Marseilles.

The Swans could miss out though if Gomis still sticks by his claims that he'd like to see out the remainder of his 12-month contract at Lyon.

It would be great if we could attract Gomis here, he sounds just the type of player we need.
