Arsenal Not Prepared to Pay £10m for Williams?
Reports say that Arsenal are not prepared to meet Swansea City's £10m asking price for their club captain and defender Ashley Williams.
After Liverpool withdrew their interest after the club's owners refused to sanction the move, Arsenal appeared to be the only Premier Leaugue club interested in the Welsh International, while Italian side Napoli have recently been linked.
However, it's not surprising to learn this week that Everton have joined Arsenal in the hunt for the 28 year-old, as new Toffees boss Roberto Martinez brought him to Swansea from Stockport County 6 years ago.
Ashley Williams was apparently the subject of the falling out between the Swansea City board and manager Michael Laudrup's agent - who tried to sell the defender in order to bring in a striker - which would have easily broken the club's existing record fee paid (£5.55m).
If Arsenal are not prepared to pay £10m for Williams, it's hardly likely that Everton will either, and the Swansea City board are unlikely to move on their £10m asking price. Williams could stay at the club, unless he shows a keen desire to leave as it was rumoured that he was keen to work with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.
