Swans Await JPT Draw

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy draw will be made tomorrow morning as clubs wait to see their opposition for the opening round.

Swansea City are holders of the competition after beating Carlisle 2-1 in the final in May at the Millenium Stadium.

The clubs are now split into 4 groups, South West and East, and North West and East.

The following 16 clubs have received byes to the next round: Bournemouth, Bristol City, Cheltenham, Leyton Orient, Millwall, MK Dons, Peterborough and Yeovil in the south; and Blackpool, Chester, Chesterfield, Crewe, Darlington, Mansfield, Oldham and Port Vale in the north.

Conference teams are no longer taking part and here is the list of teams and their respective groups:

Northern Section (West): Accrington, Bury, Carlisle, Macclesfield, Rochdale, Stockport, Tranmere, Wrexham.

Northern Section (East): Bradford, Doncaster, Grimsby, Hartlepool, Huddersfield, Lincoln, Rotherham, Scunthorpe.

Southern Section (West): Bristol Rovers, Hereford, Shrewsbury, Swansea, Swindon, Torquay, Walsall, Wycombe.

Southern Section (East): Barnet, Boston, Brentford, Brighton, Gillingham, Northampton, Nottingham Forest, Notts County.

The first round games will take place on the week beginning 16th October.

we dont want to be targetting this cup this year. couldnt care less if we went out in the first round to be honest.

League has to be our priority this season. Long term injuries in these games could cost us promotion.
