Rodgers: Wembley Final Won't Affect Swansea City

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes next Sunday's Wembley Cup Final won't have an effect on Swansea City when they face the Reds at Anfield today.

Questions have been asked ahead of the game as to whether or not the Swansea players will have one eye on Sunday's Capital One Cup Final - with a place in Europe next season up for grabs.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has also insisted that his team will be completely focused on getting a League win at Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers talked about his former club, and said:

'Knowing a lot of the Swansea players, they`ll want to do well and play every game',

'They have had a terrific season - it`s a football club which over the last 10 years has just grown and grown.

'It`s a big game next week for them because it`s the first chance to get their hands on a trophy.

'But it`s also a big game coming to Liverpool to play, hence the reason why I think they`ll probably still be a strong side.

'We played earlier on in the season in that competition and it was two contrasting teams.'

Rodgers, who is under a bit of pressure at Liverpool to get back to winning ways after a disappointing week, spoke of his frustration of the Premier League re-arranging the fixture just 3 days after travelling to Russia for an Europa League match.

His side have already lost 2 games this season, the first on Tuesday night - 2-0 against West Bromwich Albion.

"The actual game itself wasn`t scheduled until the 24th and there were numbers of weeks after that where we could have played the game.

"They actually put it in in a week where we`ve played on a Monday and played on a Thursday in an away trip to Russia."

"Then they put it in between where we have another important European second leg game the following Thursday.

"I think it was another example of where the Premier League in this country don`t help the teams whatsoever.

"Every other country in Europe will always try and help their teams - and some of them will play of a Friday before a European game.

"So for us to have it thrown in there when there was other free weeks was bemusing to say the least."
