Laudrup: Pressure Is On Arsenal In FA Cup Tie

Laudrup: Pressure Is On Arsenal In FA Cup Tie

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup says that the pressure will be on Arsenal in Sunday's FA Cup 3rd Round tie.

Unlike the Swans, the Gunners are expected to win trophies although Laudrup admits that he believes they only have two opportunities to do that this season, the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Swansea City meanwhile, will be happy to enjoy a decent Cup run, particularly in the Capital One Cup as they are two games away from a Wembley Final. However, an FA Cup run isn't as significant to them as it would be when they were in the lower Leagues, as they're in no need to win money from such competitions.

Laudrup told the Evening Post:

'I think the pressure is on them,'

'Arsenal are one of the top teams, and the top teams are obliged to compete right through until the end to win things.

'There can only be one winner in each competition, of course, but at least they have to look to be there in the final.

'So obviously there's more pressure on Arsenal than there is on Swansea at this stage.'

'They have two possibilities left, in the FA Cup and the Champions League.

'I don't think I will offend any Arsenal fans by saying that maybe they have more chance of winning the FA Cup when you look at the teams who are still in the Champions League.'

Laudrup may decide to make a number of changes to his starting line-up, but even if he does, he has proved that he can make wholesale changes and his team can still be competitive. For the Fulham away game a week ago, the Swansea manager made seven changes and they were still able to win the match. Arsenal are expected to name a stronger side as Wenger aims to do well in the Cup competitions.
