Laudrup: Fulham Win Proves We Have Character
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup says that the win at Fulham shows that his team has character.
It was far from a classic performance from the Swans, but sometimes you have to win ugly to pick up vital points and that's exactly what they did at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Michael Laudrup made an incredible seven changes to the team that drew 0-0 at Reading on Boxing Day, but it barely showed as Danny Graham opened the scoring before de Guzman added a second. Fulham pulled one back but they were unable to break down a solid defence to get an equaliser.
Laudrup said that sometimes you have to use a plan b or c to win games:
"When I saw the [Fulham] line-up I knew it would be a very offensive team,"
"We played against Berbatov, the two wide players and Ruiz, who, for me, was man of the match today."
"So I knew it would be difficult."
"You can`t always win playing well with the ball. That`s what I talked about when I arrived some months ago, that sometimes you have to use a Plan B or Plan C.
"Because, if you always want to do the same thing, if that`s not working, do we just stop playing our game or go home or what?
"I think it was a great win and once more showed that our team has character."
Swansea City now aim to make it two wins in two against struggling Aston Villa at home on New Year's Day.
