Laudrup Gives Credit To Spurs After Defeat

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup gave credit to Spurs as they beat his side 1-0 today at White Hart Lane.

Despite a dominant opening spell, Spurs soon took over in the first half and created the better chances, as Michu's 50-yard effort that went just over the bar was as good as it got for the visitors in the first 45 minutes.

The Swans defence had to be at their best and they remained strong, organised and disciplined before the home side's 75th minute winner from a free-kick.

Laudrup, as always, gave an honest account of the game, and admitted his side's passing wasn't their best:

'We started well in the first half and then they put us under some pressure, which we expected. During that time they had three or four big chances.

'Even when our passing wasn't the best, we still kept going until the end. This is a very tough place to come and we were competitive throughout.'

'They (Spurs) have a lot of speed in their team,' said Laudrup. 'They were very offensive and we had to defend deep at times.

'But credit to Tottenham because they put us under pressure when we had the ball and our wingers had to drop back, leaving us with just Michu up front.'

'We now have four games in ten days, starting with the game that everyone wants to play in next Sunday,'

'But we have two key games in that period, against Reading and Aston Villa. They will be important for us.'

Swansea City seem to have had a new player out injured every week for the past month or more and this weekend was no different, as Angel Rangel was missing due to a minor calf problem. Laudrup will be hoping to have him back plus Pablo Hernandez and Michel Vorm available again when they host the League leaders Manchester United next Sunday.

Where was the Swansea that thrashed the Arse (thankyou). You came to defend at all costs and hoped to get one on the break. Our shooting was dismal otherwise you coud have got hammered, you had four shots all off target. I like watching you play your normal game but today you played with fear.

I have to agree, Andre. We were a shadow of ourselves today. I have been accused of a knee jerk reaction but it's hard to be positive after that display.
