Vorm: Tremmel's Form Is Great For Me

Swansea City's number 1 goalkeeper Michel Vorm says Gerhard Tremmel's top form is 'great for me' as it doesn't put so much pressure on him to make a quick return from injury.

It was a big blow when the Dutchman was ruled out for several weeks with a groin injury suffered when trying to stop Carlos Tevez's winning goal at the Etihad Stadium in October. However, stand in shot-stopper Gerhard Tremmel has done a tremendous job in his absence.

Tremmel has made 6 full League appearances since the end of October, and he hasn't conceded more than 1 goal in any of those games. He has conceded just four goals and keep two clean sheets - the first clean sheets since the second game of the season.

After returning to the training pitch for the first time since the groin problem, Vorm told the Official Site:

"I`m very happy to be out there with the boys on the training field," said the Holland international.

"I`ve done a lot of gym work and strengthening my groin with Richard (Buchanan) and Kate (Rees) from the physio team, and I feel very good.

"I don`t feel any pain, but I know I am not quite 100 per cent yet, which is to be expected as I only got into full training today.

"But I think the main thing for me is to make sure I am absolutely ready before I am in contention to play. That is something I have learned in my career.

"We have some massive games coming up, and if I`m ready then that`s great, but if I`m not 100 per cent then I won`t put myself into contention for selection."

Vorm complimented Tremmel and says his excellent form means there's no extra rush on him to return to Premier League action, he added:

"Gerhard has come in and he has done very well,"

"He has worked so hard in training to ensure he is ready for any opportunity, and I think everyone has seen his quality and experience really shine through.

"It`s great for me because I know Gerhard is doing a great job, and that means I`m not rushing myself to get back to 100 per cent.

"It can be so difficult for a goalkeeper to come into certain situations because it`s a very special position and different to the others, but Gerhard has come in and done so, so well.
