'If It's Football, It's Vital'

de Guzman: We Proved Ourselves At City

Jonathan de Guzman believes the performance at Manchester City on Saturday shows that the team has plenty of potential in the Premier League.

The Swansea City loanee produced a confident performance in midfield along with Ki Sung-yeung but the team left the Etihad Stadium rather disappointed that they didn't a point that they deserved against the title holders.

Despite suffering a defeat, de Guzman believes the Swans can do well in the top flight if they can maintain that high level of performance. He told Sky Sports:

'We showed everyone that we can play football, it wasn't just a good couple of weeks at the beginning of the season,'

'If we continue like this, I think we can do very well in the league. If we can bring the same attitude to other matches and through the whole season, we'll go very far as a team.

'This is a disappointing result for us. I thought we could have at least got a point, but that's football.

'We're developing into a unit. It takes a bit of time with a new manager and this is only our second year in the Premier League.

'There's a lot of pressure in the second year. In the first year no-one really looked at Swansea but they set a high standard finishing 11th and doing a very good job. Now teams are watching out for us.

'There's a good feeling in the squad at the moment. In training everyone pushes each other and it's difficult for the manager to pick his best 11.'
