Swansea Deny Akinfenwa Move

Swansea City are set to turn down another bid for striker Adebayo Akinfenwa as Gillingham are still keen on taking him on loan.

The Gillingham manager revealed in his programme notes in one game that he attempted to sign the striker on transfer deadline day. With the loan window to be re-opened, the League 1 side are still keen on bringing 'Bayo' to the Priestfield Stadium.

However, Chairman Huw Jenkins has quickly denied any possible move and said: 'We had a couple of enquiries about Akinfenwa,'

'One of them was Gillingham and I spoke to their chairman (Paul Scally) about him.

'I think they were just testing the water and we would not be keen for them to make a loan bid. But if something happens then we will have to deal with it.'

'Bayo has done very well when he has come off the bench and many people probably believe that he is due a starting role.

'So if anyone did make a bid for him we would not be keen.'

It's quite a surprise than Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has contacted us regarding one of our players. Back in March we were interested in taking Brent Sancho on loan but the move broke down and Scally was furious, at the time he said: 'We had agreed a deal with Swansea that would have seen Brent join them on loan.

'But now they want to renege on that deal and quite frankly I'm furious with them for not honouring their word.

'We will not get caught out again in any further dealings with them.'

I don't know why Gillingham are bothering with another bid to get him on loan. There's no way Bayo's going anywhere, if he carries on like he is he'll be in the first team before long.

doubt KJ will leave hime leave on loan, he has been our striker so far even though he hasnt scored.

He aint going nowhere its a futile bid from gillinhgam. He is a first team player and on the verge of a starting place too gills are having a laugh if they think they are gonna get him.

Given your reasonably poor start to the season is it time to give him a run in the first team at the expense of Fallon?
sandgroanun
Yeah but Jackett isn't the type of manager to be dropping his first-team players so early on in the season. Same goes for Gueret as well although he doesn't really deserve to be dropped yet.

all fallon needs is another goal and then he will be on form. It will come in time.

Let Bayo go out even on loan at your peril. I`d rather let Fallon go than Bayo then Jackett wouldnt feel oblidged to start him every game due to his price tag!!!
