Lambert: We 'Thoroughly Deserved' Win vs Swansea

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert thought his side were worthy winners as they beat Swansea City 2-0 at Villa Park.

The former Norwich City boss was obviously delighted to get his first victory of the season, as goals either side of the break were enough to end Swansea's unbeaten start.

'I thought they were excellent, right from the off. We thoroughly deserved it, against a really good side which has been flying. I thought we were well-worthy of it.

'The tempo and the way we played was excellent. I have nothing but praise for the lads.

'We have a lot of tired legs because we had a lot of lads on international duty. It was a big, big effort.

'The relief at getting the first league win is massive. I can't fault the lads for what they have given me in the short term I have been here. Given time, hopefully we can do okay.'
