Swansea City Move Closer To Left Back Signing
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has this week been linked with free agent left back Dwight Tiendalli.
The 48 year-old's top priority is signing a replacement for Neil Taylor after he was ruled out of the season last Saturday against Sunderland having suffered a broken ankle.
With 19 year-old Ben Davies and Alan Tate available to fill the hole at left back, Laudrup is still looking at the free agents market to bring in cover for Neil Taylor. The Dane believes that while Davies is good enough to fill in for his fellow Welshman, he believes it's too much pressure on the youngster to play every week in the Premier League. Tate, meanwhile, is likely to be more of an option at centre back in Laudrup's eyes rather than at left back.
The Swans boss recently said that there's good enough free agents available to sign outside of the transfer window, and it seems like Tiendalli is his top pick.
The 5ft 11inch, 26 year-old was released by FC Twente in the Summer and has made 60 appearances for the Dutch side, scoring 1 goal. He also offers versatility in defence as he can also play at right back.
Reports suggest that Tiendalli could sign for the Swans on a 1-year deal.
