O'Neill: We Can Learn A Lot From Swansea City

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill believes his side could learn a lot from Swansea City after today's game at the Liberty Stadium.

O'Neill was particularly impressed with how the Swans maintained possession in the final 20 minutes after going down to ten men.

"I am very pleased with our first two games against Arsenal and a Swansea side who are picking up where they left off last season,'

"Overall I thought Swansea played very well and I`m happy with a point."

"We can learn a lot from Swansea.

"When they went down to 10 men they kept the ball very well.

O'Neill also said that his side should look to play more like the Swans, as his Sunderland team sat back for a draw, and looked to catch the opposition out on the counter attack - playing mostly long balls for the strikers to chase - compared to Swansea's far more patient build-up paly.

"They got an equaliser that was probably deserved but I am disappointed that when we got the extra man we didn`t force the issue enough and go for the win.

"We looked like we might have a second wind but they took it out of us with the number of passes they put together and we should be looking to play like that. We have some great players at this club and I think we will only get better."
