Jenkins Confirms Emnes Is One Of A Few Targets
Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed to the Evening Post that Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes is a target in this August transfer window.
Ever since Michael Laudrup was appointed as manager of the club in mid-June, former loanee Emnes had been linked with a return to the LIberty Stadium - but this time on a permanent basis.
The speculation seemed rather strange as it would seem unlikely that Laudrup would target Emnes and so soon. Not only was he spending hours watching last season's matches on DVD, but it's highly unlikely that he'd have seen Emnes in action, after taking his first ever job in the English league.
However, Emnes is a target, and other reports suggest that Middlesbrough want Swansea's Stephen Dobbie involved in the transfer.
Jenkins said that Emnes signing is a 'possibility':
'Marvin Emnes is a possibility,'
'We know we have to bring in players this week, and two forward players are priorities.
Jenkins also added that Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez is still a target, while up to 7 players could leave this month, 4 or 5 on loan and maybe two permanently - as Laudrup looks to reduce the size of his squad.
