Britton: Lets Not Get Carried Away

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton says not to get too carried away following last Saturday's 5-0 thumping opening day win at QPR.

The former West Ham United player, who faces his former club at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday, says the 5-0 Loftus Road win was a 'one-off'.

Like Britton says, last weekend's victory saw everything go right in Laudrup's first competitive match. New signing Michu had a dream debut, scoring two goals, while QPR were truly awful in front of crowd hoping for much better things this year under Mark Hughes.

'Last week's result was a one-off. It's the sort of thing that happens once in every 20 or 30 games when everything goes for you.

'Every shot you have goes in, every tackle is made and every block is made and they fail to take their chances.

'You don't get carried away as you will get punished on Saturday. We have experienced players in the squad who will keep our feet on the ground and obviously the manager and staff will make sure of it.

'But if you get too far ahead of yourself we will lose on Saturday, there is no doubt about it.'

Britton is looking forward to facing the Hammers in front of a sellout Liberty Stadium crowd:

'I've waited a long time. I left about 10 years ago and I've been waiting to play them ever since,'

'When the fixtures came out this season this was the first one I looked for.

'To play West Ham in our first home game of the season is something I am looking forward to.

'I've always wanted to play against West Ham because it was a team I was at for three or four years as a YTS and young pro.

'I wouldn't have been gutted if I never got the chance but it's something I'm looking forward to.'
