Swansea City Sign Preston NE Striker Proctor

Swansea City have officially confirmed the signing of Preston North End striker Jamie Proctor for an undisclosed fee.

The Swans have been heavily linked with a move for the young attacker this week and the 20 year-old has been unveiled at the Liberty Stadium having signed a two-year contract.

The Official Site states that he will initially join the club's under-21 set-up and working with Kristian O'Leary as he works to develop into a future first team player at the club.

Proctor, who is also joined by fellow youngster Kyle Bartley through the Liberty Stadium entrance doors today, said he was delighted to join the Swans:

"I`m delighted to join Swansea,"

"The club has enjoyed a lot of success over the last few years and their style of football has really caught the eye.

"I`m looking forward to being a part of things and trying to impress the new manager enough to force my way into his plans."

Chairman Huw Jenkins also spoke about the new under-21s setup, which replaces the Reserves team.

"The Under-21 structure will replace the old Reserve team set-up,``

"We see it as an important and vital part of the club`s long-term future.

"Our aim is to establish a promising group of youngsters under the Under-21 banner who can develop and progress into Michael Laudrup`s first-team plans.

"It`s important to think about the present, but it`s even more important to think about the future.``

Last season Proctor scored 3 goals in 24 League One starts.
