Laudrup Confirms Sinclair Rejects New Contract

Scott Sinclair has rejected a new contract at Swansea City amid speculation linking him with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City.

Swans boss manager confirmed the news that the winger has rejected a new deal at the Liberty Stadium, as he eyes a move to a bigger club. The club will want to avoid losing Sinclair for free next Summer when his contract expires.

'I have spoken to Scott and he confirmed what he said to the chairman that he won't sign a new contract,'

'But he is here now and that's what important for me.

'You never know what will happen tomorrow or the day after but there is no point arguing about it, we have to get on with it.

'Until August 31 anything can happen.

However, Laudrup has said that he is unaware if the speculation that Manchester City are interested is official, but admits there is interest in the player.

'I don't know how official it is but there is interest,'

'Manchester City is the name that is always coming up but again I have not spoken to them.

'But I don't know if it's official.'

Despite Sinclair's lack of interest in staying in South Wales, Michael Laudrup will still include him in Saturday's squad for QPR if he feels he is ready to play despite the recent media attention.

'Of course there is interest from a big club in Scott but the only thing I care about in the short term is that it does not effect him for Saturday.

'If it effects the player then we have to talk about.

'I will talk to Scott and if he says no he does not want to play then we will see, if he says 'I'm a professional' then I know he is in the squad.'

With Sinclair likely to depart before 31st August - when the transfer window closes, Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is targeting Valencia's Pablo Hernandez as a replacement.
