Liverpool Set To Sign Allen For £15m

Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen looks set to team up with former manager Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.

Today's media stories relating to Swansea City are dominated with the news that the Reds have activated the £15-million release clause in his contract, while the player himself has apparently told the Swans that he wants a move to the Anfield club.

"at present I wouldn't say he was worth £15m in the market so let's take it"

Speculation about the 22 year-old's future at the Liberty Stadium has been doubtful for a number of weeks now, but it was becoming more and more likely that the young welshman would leave to join Liverpool.

Allen has been one of the best young players to emerge from Swansea City's youth system, and last season he was a first team regular in the Premier League side. His career has just got better and better in recent years, having earned himself a place in the Welsh senior squad, as well as recently playing in the Olympic Games for Team GB.

Michael Laudrup has brought in two central midfielders this Summer - de Guzman on loan and Michu, but he may feel tempted to sign a third - as he prepares for Allen's imminent departure.

More to follow on this story soon...

We didn't need to sell, we have plenty of money, but we had no say due to the clause in his contract. Allen's move to Liverpool has been on the cards ever since Rodgers took over at Liverpool
