Swansea City Set To Sign Striker On Loan

Swansea City Set To Sign Striker On Loan

Swansea City are expected to sign Kaiserslautern striker Itay Shechter on a season-long loan.

BBC Sport believe that the 25 year-old was in attendance at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night to watch Michael Laudrup's side beat Championship outfit Blackpool 4-2 - thanks to goals from Michu and Danny Graham (3).

The 13-capped Israel international had a poor spell in the German second division last year, scoring just 3 goals in 23 appearances, but it was his form in the previous two seasons that attracted Kaiserslautern into signing him in 2011. He scored 26 goals in 45 Israeli Premier League appearances for Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Michael Laudrup said this week that he is keen to sign two more players in two different positions before the season starts at QPR on August 18th. It looks like one of those will be Shechter, and not Miku. He's been linked with a move to South Wales in recent weeks but Getafe are apparently asking for too much money which the Swans are unwilling to pay.

Shechter is set to sign as soon as Swansea City have obtained a work permit for the striker. Laudrup has confirmed that one player will be signing very soon, surely Shechter, with another targeted - which would surely complete his Summer transfer dealings.

'We are looking into a second signing,'

'We are talking to somebody but it's still in an early stage so we'll just have to wait. But one [player] will be here very, very soon.'

The Swans will play their final pre-season friendly on Saturday at home against Stuttgart (3pm), as Laudrup gets one final chance to watch his side in action before the season's opening game at QPR a week later.
