Agent: Allen Hasn't Handed In Transfer Request
Joe Allen's agent has insisted that the player has not handed in a transfer request to the club, as the rumours doubting his Swansea future continue to grow.
Internet speculation suggests that Joe Allen wants to team up with former manager Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool and to do that he has handed in a transfer request, but his agent Glenn Corcoran has denied these claims.
Sky Sports that the Reds are lining up a serious bid to sign the talented 22 year-old, even though the two parties had agreed that Rodgers wouldn't be able to buy any of his former players for the next 12 months.
His agent Corcoran didn't say much about the situation, he simply confirmed to Wales Online:
"Joe has not handed in a transfer request of any kind."
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup also said that he hasn't received any contact from Liverpool about Allen:
'I haven't heard anything from Liverpool,'
'If and when this turns into a fact and not just a rumour, we will deal with it. But I want Joe to stay because I think he is a very important player for the team.'
While there is an agreement in place that prevents Rodgers from bidding for any of Swansea's players, the agreement could become void if another club agree a fee for a player, or if he becomes available on the market - either if he hands in a transfer request or is placed on the transfer market.
It's no surprise at all that Joe Allen is wanted at Liverpool, but the Welshman is a young promising midfielder, a big part of the Swansea City team and the club don't need to sell. Therefore it would have to take a big bid that they simply couldn't ignore to sell one of their prize assets.
