Swansea City Bid For Michu
Spanish newspaper Rayoherald.com's top story reports today that Swansea City have had a bid rejected for Rayo Vallecano attacking midfielder Miguel Pérez Cuesta.
The 26 year-old, also known as Michu, could be picked up at a bargain price of around £2m - a quarter of his club's original asking price as they currently struggle with financial problems.
He was Spain's highest scoring midfielder last season, scoring 17 goals in 39 games, and he's bound to have attracted a number of Premier League clubs, as he's available at an bargain price.
Almost two months ago in May, Michu was quoted in the Daily Mail, saying:
'If a good offer arrives for Rayo and me I will study leaving,'
'Rayo are suffering from money problems and it is normal to analyse things in these circumstances, but personally I still do not have an offer on the table.'
The Daily Mail mentioned Liverpool, Manchester United, Fulham, Stoke City, Southampton, Wigan and West Bromwich Albion as some of the clubs interested in the player, who has one year left to run on his contract with the La Liga outfit.
While Spanish sources suggest the Swans haven't met Rayo Vallecano's asking price for the player, Danish journalist Klaus Egelund posted on twitter: 'Very interesting news emerging on #Michu and #swanseacity. #Laudrup have very good ties with Bahia agency.'
The Swans would do incredibly well to attract Michu to the Liberty Stadium when the likes of Manchester United had scouts watching him in action last season.
