Curtis Promoted To First Team Coach At Swansea

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has promoted club legend Alan Curtis to first team coach as his backroom staff begins to take shape.

Former player Kristian O'Leary returns to the club in Curtis' previous role, to develop the young players and manage the Reserve team.

Curtis will now work closer with the first team along with Michael Laudrup and his new assistant manager Erik Larsen.

The 58 year-old was delighted to sign a new contract that will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2014 at least.

'I'm really looking forward to working closely with Michael,''

'His reputation as a player is unbelievable and I'm sure he will match it as a manager going forward.

'I know the players are all looking forward to working with him as well, so there are more exciting times ahead.''

Chairman Huw Jenkins explained Curtis' new role:

'Alan will help provide Michael with the knowledge of not only the existing squad and his experience of life in the Premier League, but how things have run at the club over the years.

'It will help make Michael's transition into our football club as efficient, effective and comfortable as possible.

'Alan's reputation as a coach and a person is right up there with the best and we would be foolish not to utilise his talents. He has been a fantastic servant to this football club - and long may that continue.''
