Avoiding Relegation Is Worth £60m Next Season

Avoiding relegation next season will be worth £60m to Swansea City according to the Evening Post.

With the top flight clubs set to receive money from Sky Sports' broadcasting deal as well as overseas TV money, the final payments could equal an amazing £60m.

The Swans earned around £46m for finishing 11th last season and they'll be aiming to pick up big money again next year - hopefully clearly avoiding relegation again - this time under new manager Michael Laudrup.

It's incredible to think that the club was in huge financial difficulties 11 years ago, when it was bought for £1 as Tony Petty's ideas were going to quickly put the Swans out of business. After being rescued by a hugely collective effort from the Supporters' Trust and other important parties - particularly Mel Nurse, Swansea City, under a new and it's current board of directors, went on a successful path from League Two in 2005 to the Premier League just 6 years later.

From needing 7,000 crowds at the Vetch Field to break even, to sell out attendances at the Liberty Stadium in one of the best Leagues in the world, it just goes to show how far we've come in such little time.
