Swansea To Re-Open Contract Talks With Sinclair

Swansea City are set to re-open contract talks with winger Scott Sinclair.

The former Chelsea player is out of contract next year and with talks being put on hold after Brendan Rodgers' departure, speculation grew that he was eying a move elsewhere.

While some supporters criticised the player's choice to put new contract discussions on hold, chairman Huw Jenkins explained to the press his reasonings for doing so, stating that he wanted to wait to speak to the new manager first.

'Scott's position was delayed somewhat until we appointed a new manager,'

'I think that was important, to make sure the new manager had a chance to speak to Scott himself, whatever we decided to do.

'Whether you put him on a long contract or not, I think it should be a joint process to make sure the manager is fully involved.

'And over the next few weeks, prior to the start of pre-season, we'll sit down with Scott and discuss his feelings.

'I spoke to Scott and his agent prior to Brendan leaving.

'Scott was waiting to see who we appointed as manager, and then to speak to the manager.'

What are your views on the situation surrounding Scott Sinclair? Should the club look to sell in January to avoid losing him for free or are you hoping he signs a new long term contract at the Liberty Stadium? Share your thoughts on the forum here

I won't be too bothered if we sell him to avoid losing him for nothing in a year. A lot of fans wanted Routledge to replace him last season as his performances were rarely anything special, his tracking back and defensive play is also not comparable with that of Dyer
