Dyer: The Whole Squad Is Excited With Laudrup

Swansea City winger Nathan Dyer sad the entire squad is excited with the arrival of new manager Michael Laudrup.

Dyer is the latest player to tell the press how he can't wait to start working with Brendan Rodgers' replacement as the Swansea players will report back to start pre-season training in early July.

Dyer, a regular on the right wing, told the official website:

'It's a great appointment, and I'm really looking forward to working with him.

I've spoken to a few of the other boys in the squad over the last couple of days and everyone is excited about the appointment.

'Brendan's departure was a huge loss, but you've got to move on and I'm sure the Board and the chairman have made the right appointment.

'The key for us was appointing someone who believes in the same playing philosophy because it's vital we don't lose our identity.

'I'm sure the new manager will build on what we achieved last season, although survival in the Premier League is still our main objective. It's important we establish ourselves in the Premier League for the long term - and every year we stay in there we should get stronger as a squad and as a club.''

Laudrup was officially unveiled at a press conference yesterday and he will now assess various aspects of the club before he decides what changes to make to the way things are working and his back room staff. While plenty of rumours are going around about various players being linked with a move to the Swans, it's unlikely any signings will be made any time soon until the 48 year-old has assessed his squad and decided what areas need to be strengthened. Laudrup has already recognised some areas that need to be improved right away.
