Tate Rules Out Second Season Syndrome

Tate Rules Out Second Season Syndrome

Swansea City defender Alan Tate says he doesn't believe in second-season syndrome.

A lot of talks recently has been about the Swans avoiding 'second season syndrome' whereby they'll struggle after what some people will assume was a 'honeymoon' first season in the Premier League.

Next year the Swans will go out to prove their doubters wrong, and prove that they're in the Premier League for the long haul.

Alan Tate says the club must now establish themselves in the top flight after finishing 11th last term:

'You have to aim to stay in the league,'

'And start to establish yourself as a Premier League team. You are not that after one season in the league.'

'I don't think there is any such thing as second-season syndrome.

'People said that when we got promoted to League One and said it again when we got to the Championship.

'It hasn't happened in the past, so why should it be any different now. We won't approach it any differently and we will try to win every game.

Tate also added that Laudrup's appointment is an exciting one:

'It's an exciting appointment,'

'He has a decent record at Getafe and Mallorca so it's something everybody is looking forward to.

'Everyone knows how he was as a player, one of the best players who has ever lived, it is exciting for everyone.

'It will be a blank canvass again for everyone. It's a case of proving yourself all over again.'

Hope he's right. Could be a slow start as Laudrup adjusts the team slightly to suit his ways of working etc
