Young Defender Looking To Impress Laudrup

Young Swansea City defender Curtis Obeng says he's looking to prove himself to new manager Michael Laudrup.

The former Wrexham man was a Brendan Rodgers signing who was looking to 'push on' in the Summer in the hope of moving closer to getting first team football at the club signed for six months ago.

While Rodgers showed faith in the promising youngster, Obeng has to start all over again and hope that Laudrup also sees him fitting somewhere within his squad.

"It was disappointing not to get a run-out at the end of last season, especially after we were safe,"

" But I spoke to Brendan Rodgers and it was about keeping training as I had done and keeping working hard.

"I was involved with the squad for every home game since I joined Swansea and I also travelled to Old Trafford for the Manchester United game, which was not bad at all.

"But the plan was to start again in pre-season with the trip to America, hopefully be involved and kick on.

"The manager leaving means I am out of the window for the time being.

"He told me I would be involved in pre-season, but, with a new manager coming in, anything can happen, so we will have to wait and see.

"But hopefully I`ll get my chance."

Obeng also added that he's been trying to learn and improve by watching Angel Rangel in training.

"Rangel is a very good player and is very comfortable on the ball and I`ve tried to learn from him on the training ground.

"But I also know I have my own strengths with my speed and my attacking game and hopefully I can get a chance to show those attributes.

"I want to come back stronger after the summer and hopefully do a job for the team."
