No Approaches For Holloway & Laudrup

Swansea City have not approached Ian Holloway or Michael Laudrup for the vacant manager's job, as they look for Brendan Rodgers' replacement.

The bookmakers' top favourites for the Liberty Stadium role are Ian Holloway, Graeme Jones and Michael Laudrup but none of those three appear to be close to becoming the club's new manager.

"Nothing would convince me he's the man to take us forward, more likely to take us back down."

Blackpool's Ian Holloway has not been approached by the Swans according to chairman Huw Jenkins, while it appears that talks have broken down with former assistant manager Graeme Jones.

Michael Laudrup meanwhile has also not been contacted by the Welsh club. Whether he will or not remains to be seen though.

The 47 year-old has been mentioned more and more in the last few days, as his odds have continued to shorten - now at 4/1 currently with SkyBet.

The Dane is now out of a job after he resigned as manager of Mallorca due to 'great frustration' with Lorenzo Serra Ferrer, the club's Director of Football.

Despite what looks like a poor record at the Spanish club, he managed to keep them in La Liga even though they lost a number of first team players. Financial problems also meant they had to withdraw from the Europa League competition.

Laudrup appears to be a popular choice amongst Swansea City fans but Huw Jenkins they're in no rush to appoint a manager, although they had originally planned to bring someone in shortly after Rodgers' departure.

"We are weighing up our options over the next few days and we will take it from there,"

"But there is no timescale apart from having the new manager in place for the start of the season."

Jenkins also added that they will look for a manager who will continue playing the same attractive football style that we've all become accustomed to at the Liberty Stadium since Martinez arrived in 2007.

"There are a small number of people who would suit our football club,"

"We are speaking to a number of people and try to do things the right way by getting permission off clubs to speak to people.

"There are a variety of options, but like we did with Brendan, it`s about finding the right personality who can work at our club.

"The way we play, the philosophy in our club is not going to change. We have got to bring someone in who is going to complement that."

"Don't think he [Laudrup] did that well at Mallorca, left them when they were down towards the bottom of La Liga and they improved after he'd gone. He was a great player but they don't always make great managers."

who do you want folks? Holloway could be decent, Laudrup would be excellent.
The Fear
Holloway doesn't appeal to me. Laudrup seems a popular choice right now, but I expect it'll be another name that's barely been mentioned, just like when we appointed Rodgers.

Nor me, I don't like the sound of Holloway, we could do so much better i reckon
