Rodgers Explains U-Turn In Liverpool Decision

Former Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers explains why he initially rejected Liverpool's first approach to speak to him, before accepting their second offer.

"it's happened again, gutted. I guess Brendan was right when he said the only loyalty in football is held by the fans."

HAVE YOUR SAY
A couple of weeks ago, the 39 year-old rejected the chance to hold talks with the Anfield club, as he didn't think he was their number one target, as Roberto Martinez was the current favourite, while there were a number of other names linked with the job.

However, Rodgers explained that Liverpool then informed him the second time around, that he was their top target.

"I was very clear when Huw Jenkins rang me and said he had an offer from them asking to speak.

"I said `Did they say I was the number one target?` and he said `No, they just want to speak to you.`

"I said `Fine. I have no reason to be in a process if I`m not the number one candidate.`

"I didn`t want to disrespect the values of Liverpool and I didn`t want to disrespect Swansea, I just wanted to continue my work.

"But then when Liverpool come calling a second time you need to be a bold man to turn it down.

"When they came back and said I was the number one target I would have walked here.

"Huw knew my commitment to Swansea. but he knew one day I would go to a big club because it was something which was an ambition.

"When I spoke to him about it he encouraged me to speak to them because he understands as much as anyone the size and magnitude of Liverpool.

"As a professional and football challenge it was going to be a great move."

Commitment?--Seriously does Rodgers know the meaning of the word? If someone is committed to a job he sees it through not up sticks at the first money spinning offer he receives. Now, Liverpool is he really committed to you? I think not. No respect and no standards---Good riddance I say.

He has form on doing this... Whoever takes on this so called man will always need to be fearful that he will leave.. He only has thoughts about his own future never the future of the clubs he manages.. BR is not a loyal man at all... Not even a tiny bit of him...
