A Sad Farewell To Bodde As Swansea Release Him

A Sad Farewell To Bodde As Swansea Release Him

Swansea City have released midfielder Ferrie Bodde following a long bout of serious knee ligament injuries.

The Dutchman was arguably one of the most naturally gifted players the club have had for decades - probably since the early 1980's - the last time we played in the top flight.

Unfortunately though, we didn't get to see much of his true footballing talent as his injury nightmare began in November 2008. Ever since then, he has been under the knife and in rehabilitation - experiencing a number of failed attempts to return to first team football.

Despite the fact that he has been out of action for such a long time, the Swans stuck by him, and even offered him a one-year contract extension last year as they remained optimistic that he could return against all the odds.

He will probably be most remembered for his incredible 40-yard goal away at Preston during his first season at the club. Not only that, but his contribution in that first year as the Swans won the League One title and promotion to the Championship.

Sad indeed, what a waste of talent.
