Rodgers Turns Down Liverpool Job

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers has turned down the chance to talk to Liverpool about their vacant manager's job.

The news comes as a big boost to the club as they look to build and improve on the success he has brought since joining less than a year ago.

Kenny Daglish was sacked by the Reds, coincidentally after a defeat at Swansea on the final day of the season, and Rodgers was always going to be linked with a move to Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers was one of many individuals on their shortlist, another of which was former Swansea manager Roberto Martinez, who has been given permission by Wigan Athletic to begin talks about a possible switch to Merseyside.

Former Chelsea defender and French international Marcel Desailly recommended yesterday that Rodgers stay at Swansea, declaring a move to Liverpool would be 'too early'.

Rodgers has yet to speak to the media to explain his decision for declining the chance to join what is a bigger club with a huge transfer budget in comparison to what he has to work with at the Liberty Stadium. It's yet another example of Rodgers' class and commitment to the club showing through, which is what the Swansea fans love about the Irishman. Having said that though, Rodgers admits that he won't be here forever and will leave if a big, attractive club comes calling. It seems Liverpool doesn't fit the bill.

have to say I am pleased for you guys that Rodgers has decided against Liverpool and I also think he has made the right decision at this time. whether this is because he feels he isnt quite ready to step into one of the biggest jobs or he feels Liverpool are not the right job at this time, I think he has done the right thing for him and also hopefully for Swansea
