Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has told TalkSport that he hopes he can 'prise' Gylfi Sigurdsson to the club ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Irishman faces a tough battle over pre-season to making the loan move permanent, as his goalscoring form has attracted interest from many other top flight clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United.
However, Rodgers sounds quietly confident that he can get something in place with his German club Hoffenheim:
"He has been brilliant in his time here and he really enjoys it here,"
"Our club is looking to to get something in place with Hoffenheim.
"It will probably run over until the end of the season but we are very hopeful we can prise him here. He will be a great signing for us."
Swansea City had a bid rejected for the 22 year-old, and Hoffenheim manager Markus Babbel has responded saying they need to significantly increase their offer.
