Rangel: I Want To Stay At Swansea City

Swansea City right back Angel Rangel says he wants to stay at the club, saying he has enjoyed 'every minute' since he arrived five years ago.

The Spaniard spoke about former goalkeeper Dorus De Vries and the possible reasoning for his decision to leave last Summer to join Wolves, who are now relegated to the Championship.

Rangel said he might have left because of wanting a fresh challenge, but he's been mainly a bench warmer at Molineux, playing only a few Cup games this season. However, he'll face his old club on Saturday as number 1 goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is out with a long term injury.

'It is all about individual situations,'

'Sometimes you feel a bit old at a club when you have been there for four years, you want a new challenge, and maybe that is how Dorus felt.

'Maybe it was the wrong decision, but only he knows if he is happy with it.'

Rangel insists that he's not a similar situation where he feels the need to search for a fresh challenge elsewhere:

'Swansea may not be the richest club in the Premier League, but the football we play is great,'

'Everyone enjoys it and you can see from other players like Leon (Britton), who left and came back, that it is not always the sensible decision to leave.

'Ever since I came here five years ago I have enjoyed every minute.

'We have had plenty of success and now we are in the Premier League and it's great.

'If I was in the same situation I would not want to leave.

'I am sure I want to stay at Swansea because I am enjoying my football and my life and I could not ask for any more.'

Talking about facing Wolves and his former team-mate this weekend, Rangel added:

'Dorus was great for us for four seasons and I have been a bit disappointed for him because I think he has deserved to play more, he is a very good goalkeeper,'

'He is getting a chance a bit late, but he has got four games to prove himself and I am sure he will do well.

'I hope we beat them next weekend, but I do wish him all the best.

'He was our 11th player on the ball, just like Michel is now, and he was a big part of how we play the ball out of the back.

'He was a fantastic goalkeeper as well, and he achieved a lot of things at Swansea.'
