Kean Full Of Injury Excuses After Swansea Defeat
Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean blamed injuries to key players as the reason for their 3-0 defeat at Swansea City on Saturday.
Kean had to make three changes during the game, all of which were forced due to injuries.
Kean explained the substitutions he had to make to Sky Sports:
'Grant Hanley rolled his ankle, Yakubu was feeling his patella tendon on his knee, Junior Hoilett was feeling his hamstring, so I had to try and re-shuffle which was difficult,'
'I think Grant's is serious as there was no way he could come back on and there's quite heavy swelling in his ankle.
'Yakubu has had a problem before, the medical team said we have to get him off in case it totally goes and Junior's is a precaution.
'Hopefully Junior and Yakubu will have an outside chance but I think Grant will struggle to come back.'
Kean spoke a lot about injuries that affected their performance, but the Swans were more than worthy winners, and they could have scored 2 or 3 more goals after scoring all of their 3 goals just after the hour mark.
Kean is still upbeat about their chances of avoiding relegation, despite suffering a big dent to their survival hopes.
'We're confident because it's really clear and apparent what we need to do now. We're going to have to win our next two games and get a draw from somewhere.
'We have to patch ourselves up and make sure we get a team on the pitch that is really going to work hard and I'm sure we can do it.
'I think we need a minim of seven points and so that's what we'll be aiming to do.'
