Rodgers: It Was a Wonderful Performance vs Rovers

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says it was a wonderful performance yesterday to beat Blackburn Rovers 3-0.

The Swans needed to bounce back and end a four-match losing run against a side with the same run of defeats.

They bounced back in superb style, keeping a clean sheet and scoring 3 goals after 63 minutes. It could have been more as the Swans created a host of chances throughout the second half.

Rodgers said:

'The players were brilliant today and it was a wonderful performance,'

'We thoroughly deserved the three points and earned our 13th clean sheet of the season.

'We've had a couple of doubters and critics in the last few weeks and you have to accept that. But we had a team meeting on Thursday and I just wanted to let them know just how good they've been.

'But today was always going to be a difficult game. Blackburn have scored a lot of goals, but our control and domination was good and our hunger to win the ball back was incredible.

'And mentally, we passed a big test this afternoon.'

Rodgers also added that his side's performance at QPR wasn't acceptable:

'We're very much one club here,'

'It's not nice to lose four games, but from a learning point of view and going forward - what an experience it's been.

'It's been an incredible journey, and you are always going to get adverse moments. But you've got to go through that and when you get to the other side, it's a wonderful place.

'We played well in three out of the four games we lost. Wednesday wasn't acceptable from my perspective because we didn't fight.

'The minimum requirement is that we fight, but today you saw what a real team is about.'
